Overview

What do you do when the voices that resound in your head become real?

Nigel has moved to a house on an estate as a quick getaway after his marriage breaks up. However, he has some pestering house guests: Jim, looking cool and sexy like a ‘Sixties rock star, (a striking resemblance to Jim Morrison of The Doors) and Ronald, debonair, charming and well-dressed in a ‘Forties suit, like those black and white movie stars: Ronald Colman, Cary Grant, Rex Harrison. They are imagined products, alter egos, of Nigel’s angst. They have become so real to Nigel, he can see, hear, and talk to them.
Nigel befriends his neighbour Beth, who has a most lovely sister, Louise. Nigel and Louise fall for each other, but his divorce has left him so full of self-doubt and anxiety that he clams up and can’t make his move, and his alter egos are joined by visions of Louise’s handsome ex-boyfriend.

Beth’s husband Hugh, has his own anxiety problems, apart from jealously noting that Nigel pops around a lot for soulful chats with Beth.
“She’ll get rid of me soon. They don’t want you if you don’t provide the thrills department”.

The long-awaited arrival of Nigel’s young teenage daughter Millie, brought by her mother from New York, provides a catalyst for Nigel and Louise, Hugh and Beth.

Will there be a happy ending?
